Abstract :
This paper deals with use of a special radio receiver on a picosatellite, for obtaining an actual position of picosatellite above the Earth and for obtaining a correct UTC time. The information listed is necessary for another on-board experiment, like a communication unit tests, in-orbit measurements, or alternative propulsion unit tests. For this task, a novel method, based on receiving radio signals from the Earth is used. Because of many restrictions of picosatellites, there are requirements on weight, size and power consumption of the receiver, antenna and data processing unit.
