Radiointerferometry in Portugal: the `MAGRICO´ project

The author gives an overview of VLBI (very long baseline interferometry), discusses its educational and research potential, and presents VLBI project MAGRICO (Multi Array Grid Radio Interferometer Collective Operation). MAGRICO, covering the Continent, the Azores, and Mateira, will start as an educational project for three students in their final year of telecommunications engineering and will continue as a postgraduate project.
