Abstract :
A compact 800 MHz band frequency synthesizer using direct frequency dividing method is presented. This requires neither frequency multipliers nor frequency mixers. High spectral purity of C/N better than 72 dB and a channel switching time faster than 60 ms are obtained. The features of the fabricated synthesizer unit are its small dimension of 1.5" × 1.4" × 4.8", high channel expacify of 1000 channels over 25 MHz bandwidth, and low power supply voltage of 5.0 volts.
