Abstract :
Over the last few years there has been considerable interest in the measurement of the space charge distributions within dielectrics under both AC & DC stress conditions. This interest has led to the development of a number of widely used techniques that enable the experimenter to estimate the position and magnitude of the trapped charge within the dielectric. This paper provides a brief review of the commonly used methods. It then moves on to discuss how these data might be used in the design of practical devices.
