Abstract :
This paper is concerned with the development of techniques for adaptive power control within the Advanced Time Division Multiple Access project (ATDMA) which was part of the European RACE Programme. The APC system specified for ATDMA has a multi-stage averaging process (short term and long term) and the possibility of weighting the averages at each stage to provide an overall control parameter. The paper addresses the incorporation of the APC algorithm in a detailed simulation testbed designed for performance estimation within the ATDMA project. Results from simulation campaigns are presented and some general conclusions on the effectiveness of fast APC in a packet based radio system are presented
