Abstract
By the aid of the Microwave Design System (MDS), software package, the design and analysis of the downconversion and IF amplification parts of a microwave superheterodyne receiver, operating in the S-band, and the implementation of the designed subsystem in microstrip form, is presented. The designed subsystem has two modes of operation according to the desired application, either a large dynamic range the a high sensitivity mode. All individual circuits constituting this subsystem in the first mode of operation are fabricated separately and their characteristics are measured to test their performances. Then the integration of these circuits on a single substrate is considered and its characteristics are also tested and measured
