Abstract :
Salt fog ageing test is widely conducted for evaluating anti-tracking/anti-erosion performance of housing materials for outdoor polymer insulators. Detailed test method, however, is not standardized yet and round robin tests have been conducted for standardization all over the world. Here we have investigated the effect of fog conditions on ageing deterioration of silicone rubber by the different two salt fog conditions generated by ultrasonic humidifier and IEC nozzle with the air pressure 7 kgf/cm2. Under the same particle size distribution, comparable results on ageing of silicone rubber for polymer insulators could be obtained.
