Abstract
In this paper, a method is proposed to increase the total number of users in an optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) system. The technique is based on employing different optical powers for users with the same address codes to distinguish them from each other. Nonlinear optical regenerators are proposed to separate optical pulses with different powers. A comprehensive algorithm is introduced to design the regenerators. An OCDMA system is simulated using Optiwave´s OptiSystem version 7 software to confirm the performance of the proposed method. Results show an error free transmission in system employing the proposed method.
