Abstract
It is shown that the most important parameters (i.e., the transport coefficients) that describe the predischarge development in compressed insulating gases can be determined by a numerical solution of the Boltzmann equation. The method used is based on a three-term Legendre development. The results obtained for compressed SF6 are discussed. The results clearly show that direct calculations and the numerical solution of the Boltzmann equation give precise results for all transport coefficients
