Abstract
The boost inverter is a latterly proposed device that is used in applications like uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and photovoltaic systems. Its main feature is the ability to invert and boost at a single stage. In this paper, the implementation of a recently proposed sliding-mode-based, nonlinear controller for the boost inverter is presented. Unlike previously proposed controllers, the control law used here only depends on the input and the output voltages making unnecessary the inductor current measurement. This fact results in a cost reduction, an easier design, and the overall system reliability is improved.
