Abstract :
In this paper, a collaborative carrier recovery (CR) and fast decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) with a two-step generalized multilevel modulus algorithm (GMMA) and enhanced decision-directed (EDD) design is studied for 1024QAM cable modems on downstream cable lines. At the first equalizjoint carrier recoveryation step, the collaborative GMMA and EDD scheme is used for the rapid converging process. When the converging procedure reaches the stable and regular status, the EDD scheme decreases the mean square error (MSE) further at the second step. For the combination of the CR loop and GMMA-based equalizer, the qualitative analyses between two joint architectures are discussed. At 1024QAM, the developed joint CR and GMMA-based DFE scheme has a quicker converging speed than the existed equalizer design.
