Abstract :
Distributed Generation (DG) has been globally acknowledged as one of the major present drivers in power network development. However, connection of DG units into a historically passive power distribution network presents a number of issues. In this paper, inadequacies of the existing distribution network management systems in the context of DG requirements are discussed and a novel distribution network management system is presented. Load flow management, as one of the possible applications, is described in a case study explaining the operation of the new system.
