Abstract :
Operational system reliability and availability experience for the Morgantown People Mover system is presented. The data that has been collected represents two and one-half years of passenger carrying operations of the Phase II automated guideway transit system. During this time period, actual system availability has run at approximately 98% of scheduled system operations. Predicted reliability performance is compared with actual performance for the total system and critical subsystems. Previous experience during the Phase I system operation is noted. Although only the Morgantown data is included, the argument is advanced that this mode of transit technology has matured to the point where reasonable and accurate system performance predictions can be made prior to deployment.
