Abstract
From January 1, 1996, immunity and emissions testing of electronic products became mandatory for manufacturers shipping products into the European Union. For RF immunity, the test standards are IEC 1000-4-3 and ENV 50140, which are virtually identical. Both are written primarily for testing in an anechoic or modified semi-anechoic chamber; however, more cost effective alternative methods are described and allowed. Not only are these alternative technologies effective, they provide the additional advantages of lower cost, smaller size, reduced test set-up times, and simple but effective pre-compliance emission testing
