Abstract :
This paper presents an efficient fault location scheme for distribution systems. The proposed method was developed by make use available measurements in the substation. The first step identifies the number of reclosings from the information about the current wavelet coefficients. In the second one, the fault location is provided by a set of decision rules, which are obtained from the voltage and current steady-state system simulations for different protection configurations. The diagnosis consists in determining the protection zone where the disturbance happened. The methodology performance is evaluated through data obtained from a real distribution feeder model considered.
