  • Abstract
A method for discretizing continuous-time controllers is presented in the paper. The proposed design procedure is based on designing an analog controller at the first stage and then on considering the closed-loop discrete-time system which arises from the digitization of the analog controller. The bottom line of the method is to employ an exponential representation of the matrix of dynamics of the closed-loop discrete-time system. The proposed design procedure provides an upper bound on the sampling time for which the stability of the closed-loop discrete time system is guaranteed
