  • Abstract
Rockwell-Collins France has completed during the calendar year 2002 the software development of an IP client for the product line HFMessenger™ that is compliant with STANAG5066. STANAG5066 is a new ratified NATO standard that defines a profile for high frequency radio data communications. The key features of this standard are the definition of a selective ARQ mechanism and the use of high performance capabilities (connection layer, adaptive data rate, synchronous high data rate,...). The STANAG5066 Annex F provides a list of top-level applications that can interface to the protocol stack in order to transmit useful data over a reliable High Frequency channel. Among these applications is an IP client. This IP client is a software application that acts basically as an HF router conveying any IP traffic coming from a Local Area Network to another Local Area Network passing through the HF network. The IP client, combined with HFMessenger™ software and the high-speed HF modem MDM-Q9600 from Rockwell-Collins, offers a new way to transmit IP traffic over HF.
