Abstract
An antenna being an integral part of a communication system transmits or receives electromagnetic energy within a specified frequency band and space. Though antenna designers arrive at different antenna designs for the same in band performance, little attention is paid to check antenna performance out of this intended band. A detailed electrical, mechanical and EMI/EMC specifications study is essential in order to find the suitability of the antenna in a system and to asses the EMI threat to the colocated antennas. This paper gives an insight into assessing the EMI threat from the antenna and also suggests some methods to attain EMC. A case study is also discussed to illustrate the methodology used
