Abstract :
The hierarchical principle of video-information analysis is discussed. The reflection of this principle in the techniques of the representation of a shape, in a region occupied by a binary image, allows a solution to be found for two tasks simultaneously; data compression and data structure suitable for geometric transformations of the image. The authors also describe operations performed on the hierarchical list of rectangles, which is built up by using intermediate pyramidal representation
