Abstract :
This paper describes the role of the ATM transport system in a multi-service network. The ATM transport system based on virtual paths is an economical and flexible infrastructure. This paper describes the role and features of the ATM transport system in the IP era. This paper also introduces the requirements of an ATM cross-connect system for a multi-service network
