Communications systems for control and supervision of the Los Angeles metro rail trains and facilities

Technological advances have made possible new, more efficient and less costly communications systems in rapid rail transit systems. New configurations of such recently proven technologies are being planned for the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. System requirements are described and system services, including automatic train protection, automatic train supervision, the cable transmission system, the supervisory control and data acquisition system, as well as the telephone, radio, and closed circuit television systems are outlined.
