Simulation in a distributed mobile switching center environment

Distributed systems have the potential to permit growth many times the size of an individual unit within that system. The key ingredient to successfully implement such a system is the distribution of information, control and decision making among the processing elements. This paper describes a simulation package developed to investigate the distribution of functions within the processing nodes of a mobile telephone switching center. Included are descriptions of the simulation packager, functional flow, input parameters and simulation results. The simulation output indicate loads on the signaling links and processing nodes.
