Abstract :
After the phase of international standardization activity on SDH (synchronous digital hierarchy) items (network node interface, multiplexing structures, line systems, optical interfaces, and TMN functions), the operators in several countries are defining introduction programs for SDH equipment. The authors describe the current introduction programs and the strategies for SDH equipment in France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Different applications are described, considering the different SDH equipment and functions requested
