Abstract
Electromyography is suitable for application in ergonomic field and laboratory studies for the determination of muscle strain during work and for the derivation of recommendations for work design. For this purpose, a telemetric system was developed in which the electromyograms and an action code for providing a protocol for the actual activity of the person under examination are recorded on the same magnetic tape. The level of myoelectrical activity and its time course permit statements about the level of muscle strain and possible fatigue. Findings from field studies are used in the design of work according to physiological criteria
