  • Abstract
The acquisition and processing of human cardiovascular electrical signals is one of the focuses in biomedical engineering research. This paper describes a novel system based on virtual instrument concept, which makes use an INA128 weak signal amplifier and a universal active filter chip UAF42 to acquire and process electrocardio singals, and to sample data into computer via a PCI6024E data acquiring board. System software was developed based on Lab VIEW platform and a difference threshold algorithm is used to detect of R wave and calculate R-R duration. The system was applied to analyze standard MIT/BIH electrocardio signal data and also was used to collect and analyze electrocardio signal data from 20 patients in real time. The result shows high efficiency and accuracy in extracting main characteristics of electrocardiogram, displaying electrocardiogram in real time, providing real time information such as R-R duration, heart rate, etc., and alerting when abnormal heart-rate occurs.
