Application of non-decimated discrete wavelet transform for partial discharge analysis

Online Partial Discharge monitoring for high voltage underground cables are commonly performed through measurement of signals from the cables. Post processing of the data is then performed to diagnose the condition of the cables. This paper describes the relative merits of using the decimated and non-decimated discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for PD analysis. Results from simulated data and field data from 33kV network are included.
