Research on key technical and economical problems of electric distribution utilities in competitive power markets

Deregulation to electric power industries has been undergoing during past two decades. The monopolized operation with integrated generation, transmission and distribution has been unbundled into generation companies, independent transmission organization (ISO) and distribution utilities. The introduction of competition has brought substantial changes to power industry´s operation and management, and large numbers of newly economical and technical subjects are arising. This paper makes the comparison and survey on newly technical and economical issues faced by electric distribution utilities under market environment.
