Abstract :
To economically provide higher bit rate services to users, we previously proposed a Subcarrier Digital Modulation Based Passive Optical Network (SDM-PON), and showed the feasibility of a 16-QAM SDM-PON using a bias signal sending scheme. We next proposed a clipped signal sending scheme for SDM-PON to decrease sending power, and three methods for regenerating an original QAM signal from the clipped signal at the receiving side. This paper shows that the transmission performances of SDM-PON using the clipped signal sending scheme; this SDM-PON supports 16 ONUs for different distances of 2 km to 21 km between OLT and ONU as well as equal distances of 20 km, and each ONU sends constantly data of 1 Gbps to OLT.
