Abstract :
The move from 2G toward 2.5G and 3G has removed the boundaries between traditional telecommunications, computer communications and storage. Mobile core networks are now evolving towards IP based technology, resulting in heterogeneous networks. These mixed protocol networks introduce challenges for today´s network administrators, particularly in the area of alarm management. This paper discusses the development of a multi-tiered heterogeneous alarm management system based on the Java2 Enterprise Edition, with CIM/WBEM as the interface to the legacy and mixed protocol architectures.
