Abstract :
This paper outlines Hewlett-Packard´s experience with participating in the development of the performance criteria for the German “Blue Angel” eco-label for personal computers; and coordinating those activities necessary to demonstrate that HP´s personal computer product lines meet the Blue Angel criteria. The report includes an overview of: the significance of the Blue Angel eco-label from a business standpoint; the label´s major product design and performance criteria; the criteria adoption process; the application process; actions taken to develop the supporting evidence required to demonstrate conformance; some of the “lessons learned” throughout the process; and some suggestions for improvements that could simplify the process and reduce the time necessary to qualify products and secure product approval
