Abstract
Few systems are as complex as the current global Commercial Air Transport System, and upcoming changes indicate increasing complexity. In response, many of the transport manufacturers, the aerospace suppliers, the regulatory agencies, and the airlines are initiating activities intended to deal with the impacts of increasing system complexity. Within Boeing Commercial Airplane Group (BCAG), these efforts include the development and implementation of a plan to expand and enhance their overall systems engineering capabilities. This paper outlines some of the events preceeding the BCAG plan, and discusses events which are currently underway in support of it
