University of Virginia Department of Athletics: improved policies and procedures manual

A 2004 Capstone team implemented a policies and procedures Web site which helps the University of Virginia´s (UVA) Department of Athletics comply with various rules and regulations. The users of the Web site identified several deficiencies with the Web site. This paper presents methods to address these deficiencies; as a result the Web site has been redesigned in terms of aesthetics and functionality. The improved Web site will help the department with its commitment to full compliance with university, ACC, and NCAA regulations, as well as state and federal law. Violations of those regulations could result in severe sanctions or legal liability for the department, which could lead to a substantial loss of reputation and funding for the university. The newly hired human resources (HR) manager of UVA Department of Athletics is evaluating the department´s current mode of operation. This paper also analyzes the current system in the human resources, defines the major problem and recommends solutions.
