Abstract :
Computers play a major, and increasing, part in today´s motor cars. The quest for lighter cars leads towards the use of exotic materials and processes in the car´s structure. The combination of these two trends presents the electronic engineer with a difficult environment, probably poorly understood. Some experience exists: constraints of the above combination and findings are discussed, with a conclusion based on experience of composite vehicle electrics.
