Abstract :
This paper reports measurements from 10 kbits/s mobile transmissions in the 900 MHz band in a medium density urban area. Error distributions are analyzed and related to the error generation models of Gilbert and Fritchman. The parameters in Fritchman´s model are optimized and it is found that good fits can be obtained with a Markov chain having three error-free states and one error state. Some results for the Aulin´s binary symmetric channel model are also given, although the parameters are difficult to estimate due to the relatively small number and lengths of the available recordings.
