Abstract
Summary form only given. The design of an explosive-to-electric transducer that uses the remnant magnetization in ferromagnetic cylinders is presented and experimental data are discussed in comparison to numerical simulations. The high explosive charge was varied from 5 g to 90 g. The active elements were NdFeB cylinders with diameter D= 2.5 cm and length L=1.9 cm and NdFeB disks with D=5 cm and L=1.3 cm. The load circuits of the shock wave ferromagnetic generators were the same as a primary winding our MURI flux compressor generators. The peak current generated in the load was 0.8 kA. The operation of the shock wave generators was analyzed by Maxwell 3D code and PSPICE code. A detailed analysis is given on the energy balance and on the specific features of pulse generation in a system like this.
