Abstract :
All cellular telephones are designed to operate within a certain temperature range. The purpose of this paper is to document analytical and experimental studies of the air temperature in the trunk of an automobile when the telephone equipment is in use. Results show that under some rare conditions the air temperature in the trunk might exceed the allowable operating temperature of the equipment. However, at such condition, human factors will make people adjust the air temperature to a range such that using the cellular telephone will not cause temperature-related malfunctions.
