Abstract :
Pitch scaling, difference limen (DL), and identification of pulse rates were conducted on nucleus multichannel cochlear implant patients. The results indicate that pulse rate could be used to encode suprasegmental speech information below 300-500 Hz. In general, the discrimination (DL) performance for pulse rate was better for electrode pairs with larger dynamic ranges, while identification (sensitivity index) performance for larger dynamic range electrode pairs was equal to or better than that for smaller dynamic range electrode pairs
