Abstract :
A hemisphere package-antenna operating at 2.4 GHz which can be used in wireless sensor network is presented. The goal of this study is to reduce the size of a wireless sensor by decreasing the antenna dimensions, found to be a major contributor in the final node size. As the transceiver is packaged by the antenna, we focused our investigations on the influence of the transceiver size and position on the radiation characteristics of the antenna. Furthermore, the influence of environment where the antenna is placed was done. The optimisation of this 3D antenna is made using an electromagnetic simulator in terms of radiation and influence of the environment. This antenna is a good candidate to be used in medical wireless monitoring.
