Abstract
Network topology can be divided into subnetworks: customer premises network, access network, etc. The access network is responsible for transporting services at the customer premises to and from the base station and aggregating those services onto the transmission network. The broadband access network consists entirely of equipment at the customer premises and the base station. To deploy large access networks that are scalable from tens to thousands of subscriber terminals at the customer premises, and thousands to millions of network connections on user ports, the access network operator requires, first, EMS with traditional FCAPS applications, and second, integration with “umbrella” network management tools and applications, including third party fault, performance, and service management and, in particular, end to end provisioning and service activation
