Abstract :
This paper describes GTE´s experiences and lessons learned in overcoming the technical obstacles encountered while massively expanding its foothold in the broadband communications market. It addresses architectures for integrating off-the-shelf operations support systems (OSS) into a tightly knit, highly automated systems fabric. Interconnection gateways based on the CORBA industry standard became a key enabling technology. They enabled end-to-end automation of business processes across multiple systems
