Abstract :
This paper deals with the question how much “Sport” is in sports games. Taking the broad market for sports games and games with sports content, it seems to be necessary to define a new taxonomy. This would, on the one hand, enable new scientific research, especially for sports and computer science, and on the other hand give insights into how the market is structured today. This means that the design as well as the production of these games has to be discussed. The following analysis shows clearly that the game industry has not exhausted sports game market opportunities, especially the combination of sports and serious gaming, which will referred as "serious exergames" in this paper. Finally this paper looks to open the field to serious discussion and analysis of sports games.
