Abstract :
Blind estimation of SIMO (single-input multiple-output) rapidly time-varying communications channels is considered using only the second-order statistics of the data. The time-varying channel is assumed to be described by a complex exponential basis expansion model (CE-BEM). Recently we extended the linear prediction error (including multistep linear prediction) method for blind estimation of time-invariant channels to time-varying channels represented by a CE-BEM where all active frequencies in CE-BEM were assumed to be known a priori. In this paper we present an approach where we only need to know the set of all possible frequencies in the CE-BEM, and precise knowledge of the active frequencies is not needed. A simulation example is presented to illustrate the proposed approach.
