Abstract :
It is hard to start new online communities. For every success story there are many failed attempts. Researchers from social psychology and computer science have studied what drives participation in established large-scale online communities. There are also a number of books suggesting how to design for success. We investigate whether applying design principles from theory and best practices can help to start a niche community for women in science and engineering to share their personal experiences through stories.
