Abstract
This paper presents several methods for designing closed-loop time-suboptimal controllers for a flexible structure. All the control strategies are applied to an experiment consisting of a hub with two flexible appendages and their performance to control this flexible structure is examined. The time-optimal bang-bang control based on the rigid body position and velocity is lowpass filtered to limit the excitations of the higher order modes. The lowpass filter is then included in the determination of the time-optimal bang-bang control
