Abstract :
The Comprehensive Acoustic System Simulation (CASS) is the U.S. Navy´s interim model for predicting the performance of active ocean acoustic systems in the frequency band from 600 Hz to 100 kHz. Full approval is awaiting the delivery of documentation. It is anticipated that the number of users will grow when full approval is granted. Many of these users are not familiar with CASS and may require an overview of current CASS capabilities. For example, accompanying papers at Oceans 2000 describe the eigenray model and method of computing bistatic reverberation. This paper presents a more general, though less detailed, discussion of CASS including its past, present, and future
