Abstract
Although much work has been done on WWW information management, research in keeping information on Web sites up-to-date is still in its infancy. For a very large Web site whose content is derived from some source databases, it is important to maintain its freshness in response to changes to the base data. This issue is particularly significant for Web sites presenting fast-changing information, such as stock exchange information and product information. In this paper, we propose a model for studying the problem of refreshing a very large Web site in time. We identify several important research issues in maintaining the currency of information on such Web sites. We also discuss possible approaches to the timely refreshing of a Web site under the framework
