Abstract :
The photocurrent in a V-grooved front surface thin silicon solar cell with a mirror back reflector is evaluated from the solution of the two-dimensional continuity equations for excess carriers taking into account a two-dimensional generation profile determined according to an electromagnetic wave propagation approach. Comparison with PC-1D results indicates that the two-dimensional analysis is particularly important in very thin cells and when the diffusion length is smaller than the cell thickness and the texture period.
