Abstract
The converter is one important harmonic source in power systems. For the knowledge of harmonic characteristics of a converter, it is very important to evaluate the harmonic situations of AC and DC sides, and also it is very helpful to design the harmonic filters and to suppress harmonic propagation. A practical method of harmonic evaluation for a power converter is proposed in this paper. This method is more simple and convenient in use. By this method, the waveform samples are not needed, and also the FFT technique is not used. The impedance parameters of AC and DC sides, and the control parameters, e.g. the given current, or control angle, are only needed to be given, and the harmonics of AC and DC sides can be quickly obtained. In this work, several programs for harmonic calculation under different conditions are developed, and some computed results are given
