Abstract :
Deals with the application of a knowledge-based model of a design process for the transformation of a traditional design procedure into a concurrent one. We propose several techniques based on knowledge-level models of design processes. The knowledge-level models are models of configuration or parametric design. The techniques either reduce the number of iteration cycles, increase the number of simultaneously executable parts, or directly apply operationalized knowledge-level models. We describe real examples of each such approach
