Abstract :
We have evaluated BER performance of the digital subscriber line (DSL) using the twisted-pair channel model by means of a semi-analytic simulation technique. As a result, it was found that the performance of a 5000 m, 22-gauge DSL loop was degraded by 4 dB in Eb/N0 for BER=10-7, while 2dB with same loop length if its Nyquist frequency becomes up to 512 kbit/s. In addition, the effect of FEXT noise in the DSL loop is serious when the FEXT noise damping constant, k is over 10(-10) in DSL length and 10-14 in Nyquist frequency
